Sun Oven Cooking

Last week I did a preparedness workshop and cooked food in my Sun Oven. I baked coconut bread, apple bread, banana bread and a pot roast dinner. Every thing turned out very moist and very delicious.

Coconut Bread
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
2 t. coconut extract
Cream together and add the following, alternating with 1 c. buttermilk:
3 c. flour
1/2 t. soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
Add 1 c. angel flake coconut. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans Bake at 350 for 45-55 minutes. The Sun Oven took 60-65 minutes.

Fanastic!! I'm thinking the cooking time for a sun oven would be considerably longer here in Alaska where it's already freezing at night lol. Love the idea!!!

Since I saw your sun oven, I have been googling to find out what they are and how to use it. Now that I know that you have one, I want one too. You are so groovy to me!

Sorry for contacting you this way, but I can't find your email address.

One of our grandsons has requested an ice cream cake for his birthday this weekend and I've never made one, have you?

Any suggestions or tips?

Hi, I'm from Brazil and got to your blog thoough cheesewithnoodles.blogspot.com - very cool blogs! Thanks for the recipes! I was wondering how to get a sun oven, that is pretty cool, I'd love to be able to cook with sun. I'll try the vegan recipes, or adjust the non-vegan ones. Thanks!
