Lorraine's Chocolate Chip Cookies

My daughter wanted to make her Aunt Lorraine's cookies today. Here they are. Lorraine is my sister-in-law who was diagnosed with cancer in March and passed away in June. She was one of the best and so are her cookies.

1 c. shortening
3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. soda
1 t. salt
3-5 large handfuls of old fashioned oatmeal
1 bag chocolate chips
nuts, if desired

We use a #50 scoop and bake them 12-13 minutes at 350°.

You are going to LOVE a food processor!! I use mine to chop, grate, it is exceptional for doughs and crusts, it makes short work of potato salad (all those eggs, onions, pickles, celery all go in at once!! As far as what kind to get, Walmart sells a very nice Hamilton Beach 500 watt (10 cup) model for about $35. You'll be sorry you didn't get it early enough for your holiday baking though...haha...

What a nice way to remember someone ~ through their cooking!

I got a kick out of the 3-5 handfuls of old fashioned oatmeal. I have small hands so I'm guessing 5 handfuls, grins.

Thank you so much for coming by my blog and leaving such sweet and thoughtful comments. It is a pleasure to meet you and to "chat" with you about our delicious common interests! I look forward to visiting with you again.

Hi,

To transform from mL to cup, here is the formula:

1/4 cup = 60 mL
1/3 cup = 80 mL
1/2 cup - 125 mL
1 cup = 250 mL
2 cups = 500 mL

Have a nice day :)
